Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about buying and building with Heritage Craft Homes.
We certainly think you should talk to Heritage Craft Homes before making that decision. Choosing the best custom home builder is not just about finding someone who can pour a foundation and frame a house. You are choosing a company you may work closely with for a year or longer. Heritage Craft Homes is a Northern Utah home builder based in the Ogden area with decades of experience in custom homes, new construction homes, residential communities, patio homes, townhomes and land development. We are proud of the homes we build, the awards and recognition our team has received, and—most importantly—the relationships we build with our homeowners. Come meet us. Ask questions. Look at our homes. Learn how we build. Then decide whether we are the right builder for your family. We think you will feel the difference.
Absolutely. Heritage Craft Homes builds custom homes and new construction homes throughout the Ogden area and Weber County, including Ogden, North Ogden, South Ogden, West Haven, Plain City, Farr West, Pleasant View, Harrisville, Hooper, Roy, Riverdale, Washington Terrace, Marriott-Slaterville, Uintah, Huntsville and surrounding Northern Utah communities. We also build in unincorporated Weber County and areas including Eden, Liberty, Nordic Valley, Taylor, Warren and West Weber. If you have land—or you are considering buying land—call us before you get too far into the process.
Yes. We serve homebuyers and custom-home clients throughout Davis County, including Layton, Kaysville, Farmington, Syracuse, Clinton, Clearfield, West Point, South Weber, Fruit Heights, Centerville, Bountiful, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Woods Cross and Sunset. Whether you are looking for a custom home builder in Layton, new construction in Syracuse, a home builder in Kaysville, a custom home in Farmington or a builder for your own lot anywhere in Davis County, we would love to talk.
Our primary market is Northern Utah, including Weber County, Davis County, Box Elder County and surrounding communities. For the right custom-home project, however, do not assume you are too far away. If you are within roughly 100 miles of Ogden and considering building a custom home, call us. Let us talk about your land, your project and what you want to build. If it makes sense for both of us, we will figure out the next step together.
Yes—and we love these projects. If you already own a building lot, acreage, family property, farm ground or another piece of land, Heritage Craft Homes can help you determine what it will take to turn that property into your home. We can discuss site conditions, utilities, excavation, grading, access, house placement, plans, budget, permits and the overall construction process. The earlier you involve your builder, the better.
Yes. Please do. A beautiful piece of land is not automatically an inexpensive or easy place to build. Utility availability, sewer or septic requirements, water, soil conditions, excavation, slope, retaining walls, access, impact fees, zoning, setbacks and other site requirements can dramatically affect your final construction cost. Before you fall in love with the property, let us help you understand what building on it may involve. One phone call before purchasing land can potentially prevent a very expensive surprise later.
Yes. If you know you want to build but have not found your property yet, talk with us. Tell us the area you like, approximate home size, lifestyle, budget, desired acreage and what matters most to your family. We work in Northern Utah every day and understand residential construction and development. Finding the right land is part of building the right home.
A custom home is designed and built specifically around you, your property, your preferences and your budget. A spec home, sometimes called an inventory or quick move-in home, is built by the builder before a specific buyer has necessarily selected every feature. A tract or production home generally uses a predetermined collection of floor plans and options within a planned community. Heritage Craft Homes works across this spectrum. We build fully custom homes, established house plans, new construction homes, quick move-in opportunities and homes within planned communities. You do not need to know which category fits you before calling us. Tell us what you need. We will help you figure it out.
We frequently have homes under construction or available that can provide a faster path to homeownership than starting a completely custom build from scratch. Availability changes as homes sell and new construction begins. If you are searching for a quick move-in home, move-in-ready home, spec home, inventory home or new construction home in Northern Utah, contact Heritage Craft Homes and ask what we currently have available. You may find exactly what you are looking for.
